Avalanche Gear Check

There are important things to check over before leaving a trailhead and heading into the backcountry. Here are some avalanche gear check points to look over:

Avalanche safety gear (required in avy terrain):

• Avalanche transceiver (beacon) on, transmitting, and full battery
• Avalanche shovel
• Avalanche probe
• Backpack or airbag pack
• First-aid + repair kits (at least one per group)

Other personal items:

• Proper clothing layers
• Water + food
• Communication devices (radio / phone / InReach)
• Maps / GPS / offline navigation
• Extra gloves, goggles, fuel (where allowed)
