Precision Welding Dura Deck Craftsmanship

Precision Welding

Precision welding has always been and will remain our focus with all of our Dura Deck products. Welding our aluminum sled decks demands a rare blend of precision welding technique and hands-on experience. Because aluminum dissipates heat rapidly and is highly sensitive to contamination, each weld requires exact control of temperature, torch angle, and travel speed to maintain strength without warping the material. Our expert welders meticulously prep every joint—cleaning, beveling, and fitting components so the final structure can withstand heavy loads, vibration, and harsh winter conditions. Through careful bead placement and consistent penetration, our team of welders create welds that are not only structurally sound but also clean and polished, reflecting the craftsmanship and attention to detail that our high-quality aluminum sled decks depend on.

Dura Deck Ramp Assist
Deck Features

Ramp Assist by Dura Deck

Ramp Assist is unique to Dura Deck! It is a bar mounted below the ramp. The bar slides in and out, giving the user a place to teeter the ramp against. It can be used at any point, but especially helpful when maneuvering it on your own. Ramp Assist is designed to carry a lot of the ramp weight until it is transferred up to the back bar of the sled deck. Whether you pull the whole ramp out or keep it slide together, it will make the process much easier.

How are Dura Decks Built?

Dura Decks are Built with High-Grade Aluminum Dura Deck uses thicker-grade aluminum for both the framing and the deck surface. This all-aluminum construction helps with rust resistance, weight, and long-term durability. Using aluminum instead of steel or wood reduces maintenance and improves longevity. Manufacturing Location & Process They manufacture their sled decks in Tower City, North Dakota. According to the company, they have in-house engineers working from concept to fabrication. Their operation is relatively small and family-run, which they say gives them more control over quality and customization. Dura Decks are Built with Structural Reinforcement The decks are “extra re-enforced” compared to a basic or lightweight build. That reinforcement comes in the form of stronger framing, likely cross-members or structural ribs underneath the load surface, though Dura Deck doesn’t detail exactly every brace in public specs. Decking Surface & Design The Platinum model uses aluminum decking — not wood, not composite. The design includes expandable sliding sides to widen the deck footprint (up to 102″ width) for better tie-down and stability. They include a telescopic ramp (10′ 6″) for loading/unloading. They also have adjustable legs so the deck sits at a low and stable profile in the truck bed.
